Inside the Engine

The Architecture of NAILED

We reject the industrial-era myth that there is only one “correct” way to swing a golf club. Every golfer possesses a unique, natural movement blueprint — from Jim Furyk's vertical loop to Dustin Johnson's bowed wrist. Our system discovers your swing DNA, matches you with the elite professionals who share your physical footprint, and optimises the mechanics you already have.

The Technology

RAG Architecture, Not AI Guesswork

Most “AI” apps let a generalised model look at an image and invent a convincing guess. That is unsuited to sports science — generalised models prioritise sounding right over being right.

Generalised LLM

  • Creatively speculates about your swing from an image
  • Prone to hallucinations — convincing but inaccurate
  • No mathematical grounding in your real motion

NAILED RAG

  • A purpose-built vision engine first reads the style of your swing — the angles, planes and timings that form your unique fingerprint
  • Those measurements become a strict context payload
  • The AI retrieves and maps real pro profiles — it cannot invent a match

Phase 1 · The Macro Filter

The 10 Style Archetypes

Your swing first finds its family. We read your motion as a whole — how you set up, turn, transition and release, not just one or two signature traits — and place you with the players who genuinely share your style. Our library of 100+ historical and modern professionals is organised into 10 holistic style families, so your match always starts from golfers who already move the way you do.

Phase 2 · The Deep Dive

The Deterministic 11-Vector Engine

Once you're routed into your natural style family, the engine runs a deep-dive profile verification. Inside that bucket, your final Pro Twin selection is governed by a strict, reproducible model — not an AI generation.

NAILED tracks your movement across 11 critical biomechanical vectors captured at pivotal nodes: address, top of the backswing, shaft-parallel, impact and follow-through.

Peak Outliers: the engine finds the vectors where you deviate furthest from neutral and weights them heavily — so your match reflects your most defining movements, reproducibly, every time.

Phase 3 · Maximum Precision

The Signature Style Synthesis

A single swing video is a snapshot, and amateurs are prone to day-to-day inconsistencies. Signature Style requires a multi-angle profile of four swings, so the engine isolates your deeply ingrained habits rather than a one-off fluke.

2 × Down-the-Line

Captures your swing plane and path from behind — the geometry that drives your start line and curvature.

2 × Face-On

Captures weight transfer, tempo and release from the front — the rhythm and sequencing of your motion.

The RAG engine cross-examines both visual planes, factoring in your tagged club (an iron setup differs geometrically from a driver) to deliver a credible, 360-degree blueprint of your overarching golf identity.

The Objective Layer

The 18-Fundamentals Audit

Style matching tells you who you swing like. The Fundamentals Audit tells you how sound your swing is — objectively. Alongside the Pro-Twin match and the 11-vector profile, the engine runs a separate, repeatable audit of 18 swing fundamentals.

17 are assessed directly from your swing video, and a final Consistency fundamental is derived across your swings. Each is graded Fix, Tweak or Nailed — the same scale every time, so progress is measurable.

The backbone: these grades feed directly into your Swing Score and prioritise your personalised work-on plan — it isn't a separate report, it's how the app decides what to fix first.

The So-What

From Data Architecture to Lower Scores

Your Pro Twin isn't a novelty badge — it's the key to your development. The moment your Swing Style is finalised, the entire app becomes a hyper-specific virtual coach that understands your body's true mechanical blueprint.

Context-Aware, Shot-by-Shot Feedback

Because the engine knows your archetype, it judges every new swing through that exact lens. An unconventional tilt or plane that a standard app would flag as an error is recognised as a core power source — so feedback calibrates your unique Tweakable Vectors instead of fighting your natural habits.

The First Tee Playbook

Data is useless if it causes paralysis over the ball. The engine strips away the jargon and delivers 1–3 concise, feel-based swing thoughts tailored to your Swing Style — so you play with a clear head and trust your natural DNA under pressure.

Realising Your True Potential

By identifying your baseline, filtering out the noise and delivering archetype-specific adjustments, NAILED doesn't change the way you swing — it optimises it. And your advice doesn't reset each session: the Swing Intelligence engine remembers what you're working on and only retires a fix once you've held it across rounds. That means deeper consistency, fewer wasted range sessions and a clear roadmap to your ceiling.

NAILED bridges the gap between complex sports science and the weekend competitor. We don't try to change your swing — we optimise it.

Free and anonymous. Takes less than a minute.

FAQ

How It Works — FAQ

The detail behind the engine, the matching, and what it means for your game.

How is this different from a generic AI swing app?
NAILED uses a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture. A purpose-built vision engine first reads the shape and style of your motion — the angles, planes and timings that make up your swing's unique fingerprint — and turns it into hard measurements. The AI then acts as a data synthesiser, mapping that fingerprint to real professional profiles. It cannot invent or hallucinate a match — it is strictly bound by the measured shape of your own swing.
What are the 10 Style Archetypes?
Before any detailed matching, your swing finds its family. We read your motion as a whole — how you set up, turn, transition and release, not just one or two isolated traits — and route you into one of 10 holistic style families. This ensures your match starts from golfers who genuinely share your style, rather than defaulting everyone to the same neutral, textbook pros.
What are the 11 vectors, and why deterministic?
Inside your style family, your Pro Twin is chosen by a strict, reproducible model that tracks 11 biomechanical vectors at pivotal points in your swing. The engine finds your Peak Outliers — the vectors where you deviate most from neutral — and weights them heavily, so your match reflects your most defining movements rather than an arbitrary AI choice.
What is Signature Style?
Signature Style is an upgrade for maximum precision. Instead of one video, you submit four — two Down-the-Line and two Face-On — and the engine cross-examines both visual planes, factoring in your club selection. This filters out one-off flukes and isolates the recurring habits that make up your true golf identity.
Will NAILED try to change my natural swing?
No. The engine preserves your DNA Anchors — the unconventional traits that are actually a source of your power and consistency — and focuses only on calibrating your Tweakable Vectors. You receive diagnostics that work with your natural habits, never against them.
How does this actually help me shoot lower scores?
Once your archetype is set, the whole app becomes a hyper-specific coach. It gives context-aware, shot-by-shot feedback through your archetype's lens, then distils everything into The First Tee Playbook: 1–3 concise, feel-based swing thoughts you can carry onto the course with a clear head.
What are the 18 fundamentals, and is the audit objective?
Style matching tells you who you swing like; the Fundamentals Audit tells you how sound your swing is. The engine grades 18 fundamentals of the golf swing — grip, posture, alignment, swing plane, weight transfer, tempo and the like. 17 are read directly from your swing video and a final Consistency fundamental is derived across your swings. Each is graded Fix, Tweak or Nailed against the same fixed scale every time, so it is objective and repeatable rather than a one-off opinion.
Is the Fundamentals Audit on the free plan?
Yes — every swing you analyse, free or Premium, gets the full graded Fundamentals Audit, so you can always see exactly how NAILED reads your swing. The grades feed directly into your Swing Score. Premium adds the personalised work-on plan built from those grades — plus unlimited swing analyses, trend charts and unlimited history.
Does the advice reset on every upload, or does it remember what I'm working on?
It remembers. Rather than reinventing your feedback on every clip, the Swing Intelligence engine treats each fix as a project with a status: it keeps a fix in your daily feels while you're 'Working on it', recognises when it's 'Grooving in', and only retires it to 'Locked in' once you've held it across several rounds. That makes your roadmap stable instead of volatile — the same priorities carry between sessions until you've truly earned the change. The engine runs for every subscriber; the full progression view that shows each fix advancing through the bands is a Premium feature, and the free tier doesn't include Swing Intelligence.
